Just returned from Pinery Provincial Park

My wife and I, and 3 month old son, just returned from Pinery Provincial Park. This is our annual trip to the park, to get the kinks worked out of the trailer for the year.

We stayed in Riverside 4, on site 772. It’s a great site, right on the river. You have some good views of the river, however it’s alot windier closer to the river. I find the sites on the river are fairly spaced out, and are large. For some reason, the park officer decided to drive around the park ALL DAY. I think I saw him drive by 10-15 times on Friday, same on Saturday. There were 10 camp sites booked in this area, why the need to drive around all day?

Weather was decent, but fairly chilly. Saturday it didn’t rise past 4 degrees, and cloudy and windy all day. Still great to get out!

  1. Can you please tell me what campsite you were at? We are going to be at riverside area 4 site 728. It seems like a middle site and it says good privacy but the pictures show it is not private at all. We got the last campsite in the park as we reserved late. I have been going there for ever since I was a couple months old. Love the place and your review was awsome. Next time you go try to get riverside area 3 site 349. It is the BEST campsite in the park. The reservation pictures stink but trust me, its the best of the best.

  2. I am sort’ve familiar with site 728. I think the BACK of the site may be open to the main road behind you, but it’s not that bad. I think the site has a wide road front. It definitely is in the middle of a few sites, so you will have people around you. If I remember correctly that is. We usually pick sites around 770. The site above was 772 I think.

    • Hi Theo, I did email you, but thought I’d put it here as well. Yes, you can access the river directly behind your site. There is a nice path down to the water! (you can even go swimming if you want… )

  3. We have stayed at the Pinery on several occasions and did a bike around to note great sites. 772 was at the top of our list. We booked it for 3 nights next week This is our go to park but thought we’d look at another and happened to see your reviews of Bon Echo. I’m leaning to Canisbay or Pog Lake at Algonguin but few sites available with electrics. I guess we’d need to book earlier. Any other park suggestions ??
